From 4–8 May 2026, representatives of Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (FH Dortmund) participated in the Global Faculty Week 2026 hosted by Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Lithuania. The annual event brings together academic and administrative staff from partner universities worldwide to strengthen international cooperation, promote internationalisation at home, and foster new educational and research collaborations.
Representing FH Dortmund, Prof. Dr. Carsten Wolff, Prof. Dr. Christian Reimann, Ekaterina Hermann, and Thorsten Ruben actively participated in the programme. As part of the academic activities, Prof. Dr. Carsten Wolff and Prof. Dr. Christian Reimann delivered the lecture “Doing Digital Innovations in Virtual Cross-Border Projects”, presenting FH Dortmund’s experience in international digital collaboration, innovation projects, and project-based learning.

A key element of the visit was the strategic meeting with Prof. Rūta Čiutienė, Head of the Management and Human Resource Management Study Programmes at KTU. Discussions focused on strengthening the long-standing cooperation between both institutions, including the further development of the EuroPIM Double Degree programme, opportunities to combine Master’s studies with postgraduate education, the extension of the EuroPIM Partnership Agreement, and the planning of future Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs).
Another important highlight of the week was the NomadTrail consortium meeting, hosted by Kaunas University of Technology. The hybrid meeting brought together representatives from FH Dortmund and KTU on site in Kaunas, while project partners from KU Leuven (KUL), the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) joined online. During the meeting, the consortium reviewed the overall project progress, discussed feedback on the interim report, evaluated the development and review of project outputs, coordinated upcoming activities, and planned the next innovation projects for 2026 as well as the preparation of the project’s final reporting phase. The meeting further underlined the strong collaboration between the project partners and their shared commitment to developing innovative educational approaches within the Erasmus+ NomadTrail project.
The visit once again demonstrated the value of long-term international partnerships in developing innovative study programmes, expanding collaborative teaching formats, and strengthening European university cooperation. Through academic exchange, strategic planning, and project coordination, the KTU Global Faculty Week provided an excellent platform for further deepening the collaboration between the partner universities and for advancing the shared objectives of both the EuroPIM and NomadTrail initiatives.
