Euclides Annual Meeting 2026 Brings Together European Partners to Shape the Future of International Collaboration

On 28–29 May 2026, the Euclides Network held its Annual Meeting at the Faculty of Engineering Vitoria-Gasteiz of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. Returning to the Basque Country after 17 years, the meeting brought together more than 30 representatives from 13 partner universities across 8 European countries, reaffirming the network’s long-standing commitment to international cooperation, educational innovation, and academic excellence.

The two-day meeting provided an important platform for reviewing the achievements of the past year while jointly shaping the future development of the network. Participants evaluated the recently completed Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), exchanged experiences and best practices, and discussed opportunities to further strengthen collaborative teaching formats within the Erasmus+ framework.

A key focus of the meeting was the continued development of the Euclides Charter, reflecting the network’s shared commitment to quality standards, long-term cooperation, and sustainable internationalisation. In addition, partner universities explored new opportunities for collaboration during the traditional BIP Speed Dating session, where institutions presented ideas for future Blended Intensive Programmes and established new academic partnerships.

Another important agenda item was the discussion of potential new member institutions, demonstrating the network’s continuous growth and increasing international visibility. Participants also received an update on current developments in European higher education and Erasmus+ policies, providing valuable insights into future opportunities for international cooperation.

One of the most significant outcomes of the Annual Meeting was the agreement on the dates for the next Euclides BIP Week, which will take place from 15–19 March 2027. This joint mobility week once again provides the framework for numerous Blended Intensive Programmes, enabling hundreds of students and staff members from across Europe to participate in collaborative international learning experiences.

The partners also confirmed that the Euclides Annual Meeting 2027 will be hosted by La Rochelle Université (France) on 27–28 May 2027, continuing the network’s tradition of rotating the Annual Meeting among its member institutions.

Beyond the formal programme, the meeting offered numerous opportunities for networking, exchanging ideas, and strengthening personal relationships through campus visits, laboratory tours, cultural activities, and social events. These informal exchanges continue to play a vital role in fostering the trust, collaboration, and friendship that have characterised the Euclides Network for more than three decades.

The Euclides Network would like to express its sincere thanks to Estibaliz Apiñaniz, this year’s host of the Euclides Annual Meeting, for her exceptional organisation, warm hospitality, and tireless dedication. Thanks to her excellent preparation and personal commitment, the meeting provided an inspiring atmosphere for collaboration, networking, and the development of new initiatives across the network. Her efforts played a key role in making the Annual Meeting 2026 such a successful and memorable event.

The Euclides Annual Meeting 2026 once again demonstrated the strength of long-term European university cooperation. By bringing together partners to evaluate achievements, develop new initiatives, and define common objectives, the network continues to create innovative learning opportunities for students and staff while shaping the future of international higher education. Through its shared commitment to excellence, collaboration, and internationalisation, the Euclides Network remains a strong example of how sustainable partnerships can drive educational innovation across Europe.
