On the 1st of October, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Fachhochschule Dortmund (FH Dortmund) held its Introduction Day for the new intake of three International Master’s Programs: European Master in Project Management (EuroMPM), Embedded Systems Engineering (ESE), and Master Digital Transformation (MDT). The event marked the start of the academic journey for first-semester students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
The morning session began with a warm welcome from the International Master Team, which includes program directors, vice directors, course manager, professors, and the prorectorate of the University, Mrs. Ramona Schröpf. They greeted the incoming students and introduced them to the university and its academic environment.
Following the introductory session, students had the opportunity to explore the campus and enjoy lunch at various canteens. After the break, the programs split into separate welcome sessions for EuroMPM, ESE, and MDT where students got to know each other and their respective groups better.
During the afternoon session, students were given a detailed overview of their master’s programs, along with useful information about the university’s support services, including the Career Service, psychological counseling, sports activities, and theater opportunities.
The day ended on an interactive note, as students formed mixed groups and participated in a team-building activity. Using flip-charts, the groups worked together to discover common interests, present their cultures, and share their hobbies. This exercise not only fostered connections among students but also highlighted the richness of the diverse cultural mix in the new cohort.
The event was a great success and it was heartwarming to see students from different parts of the world come together to form a dynamic community. We are really happy to welcome such a diverse group to our Masters programmes and look forward to seeing them all thrive.
