From March 11th to 15th, 2024 the University of Applied Sciences-Diepenbeek (UCLL) in Belgium hosted an International Exchange Week “BIP. Sustainability: Challenges and Opportunities.” The event brought together students from different countries for a week of learning and cultural exchange.
Experts from various fields, including Prof. Dr. Carsten Wolff from the Institute for the Digital Transformation of Application and Living Domains (IDiAL) at Fachhochschule Dortmund (FH Dortmund), shared their insights on sustainability issues.
A standout presentation “The interdependencies between smart city, smart mobility and smart energy” was given by Prof. Dr. Carsten Wolff, who discussed how smart city planning, mobility and energy systems are interrelated. As an example of this area, a successful project in collaboration with a multinational package delivery and supply chain management company was presented during the International Exchange Week at UCLL Campus Diepenbeek.
The event sparked engaging discussions with students actively participating and asking questions. The positive feedback highlighted the importance of addressing sustainability concerns. The International Week in Belgium demonstrated the value of collaboration and shared learning in tackling global challenges. By bringing together diverse perspectives, the event inspired collective action towards a more sustainable future.
FH Dortmund is grateful for the invitation to contribute to the discussion and looks forward to future opportunities for exchange and cooperation.
