Welcome Day at FH Dortmund

On 1st of October 2025, the International Master’s Team, consisting of members from the Faculty of Business and the Faculty of Computer Science at Fachhochschule Dortmund warmly welcomed the new cohort of international master’s students. The Welcome Day was organized for students enrolled in the international master’s programmes EuroMPM (European Master in Project Management), ESE (Embedded Systems Engineering), and MDT (Master Digital Transformation), bringing together students from different academic and cultural backgrounds at the start of their academic journey at FH Dortmund.

This year, more than 100 first-semester master’s students joined the programmes. While not all students were able to attend the Welcome Day in person, the event offered a valuable opportunity for many newcomers to gain their first impressions of the university, the faculties, and campus life at FH Dortmund. The morning session of the welcome event began with a warm welcome from the International Master’s Team including programme directors, vice directors, professors, and members of the prorectorate Prof. Dr. Stephan Weyers, introduced the students to the university and provided insights into the academic structure and learning environment. Following the introductory session, students had the opportunity to explore the campus and enjoy lunch at various university canteens. After the break, the event continued with separate welcome sessions for EuroMPM, ESE, and MDT, allowing students to meet their fellow students, get to know their cohorts, and receive programme-specific information.

Since the beginning of the semester, students have actively participated in their courses and quickly settled into university life. Over the past months, they have gained new academic and practical experience, met fellow students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, and developed strong connections within their cohorts. Collaborative work has played a key role, as students have worked together on project tasks in various courses, strengthening both their professional skills and their intercultural competence.

As the semester progresses, students are now approaching an important milestone: the examination period, which will begin at the end of January. We wish all students the very best of luck in their exams and every success in completing their first semester.

We look forward to welcoming them back for the summer semester, which will mark the start of their second semester in the master’s programme, and to continuing this exciting academic journey together.
