The EuroPIM family welcomes a new Doctor in Engineering Technology!
On December 10th, 2025, Nargiza Mikhridinova has successfully defended her PhD thesis on “Competence-Based Team Development for Software Engineering Projects: Comprehensive Competence Models” at KU Leuven.
This PhD research explored how competence-based approaches can help solving project staffing challenges by focusing on formally describing individual competences and competence profiles and defining operational requirements for competence models and systems to support software engineering project teams’ formation and development.
This research lays the groundwork for tools and applications that enable competence-driven staffing and team development, with implications for engineering education and digital transformation projects.
The supervisory committee included Wim Van Petegem, Sofie Craps (supervisor and co-supervisor, KU Leuven), Carsten Wolff (co-supervisor, FH Dortmund), as well as Marijke Verbruggen (KU Leuven), Joost Vennekens (VUB), Bassam Hussein (NTNU), and Frank Thielemann (UNITY AG).
