NomadTrail Long-Term Innovation Project: Face-to-Face Collaboration During BIP Euclides 2025

The Long-Term Innovation Project is a key learning activity within the Erasmus+ NomadTrail – Virtual Projects for European Digital Natives initiative (2023-1-DE01-KA220-HED-000153927). Built around cross-border, project-based teamwork, it brings together students from partner universities to develop a prototype app themed around Smart Sustainable Food Production and Technology of the Future. While most of the tasks are carried out virtually, he team had the opportunity to meet and work together in person for the first time during BIP Euclides 2025, held from 17 to 21 March at KU Leuven Campus De Nayer, marking an important moment for the project.

This face-to-face week gave students the chance to connect beyond the screen, share ideas, refine their vision, and make real progress on the app. From pitching early concepts to improving design and content, the group focused on both user experience and scientific relevance. The on-site collaboration boosted energy, creativity, and teamwork, with academic leads Peter Arras (KUL), Carolina Cruz (UPV/EHU), and Carsten Wolff (FHDo) providing hands-on guidance and support throughout the process.

Now back online, the teams are working towards their final deliverables that are a functional demo, a solid pitch, and a detailed report, all due by May 2025. Their efforts will be evaluated based on innovation, collaboration, and presentation. The success of this in-person phase confirmed the strength of the Erasmus+ NomadTrail model, blending virtual learning with real-world interaction to create meaningful, international learning experiences.
