Master Block Week at KU Leuven 2019

The Master Block Week at KU Leuven will take place on the 16th-20th of September, 2019.

In this Block Week students from KU Leuven and Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts will come together to work on a Master Workshop. The participants will work on real-life case studies in the field of innovation, entrepreneurship and project management. These fields are critical in advancing the problem solving and applied skills. The focus is put on extending the knowledge of creating and improving key enterprise choices and outcomes. Sustaining enterprises in an environment of accelerated change is also a critical element of this workshop.

The main content of the workshop will be devoted to the application of the TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Forum) methodology, which is a holistic approach to elaborate the strategy and business architecture of an enterprise. It is the most prominent and reliable enterprise architecture standard, ensuring consistent standards, methods, and communication among enterprise architecture professionals. Those professionals who are fluent in the TOGAF approach enjoy greater industry credibility, job effectiveness, and career opportunities. This approach helps practitioners to avoid being locked into proprietary methods, to utilize resources more efficiently and effectively, and realize a greater return on investment.

The TOGAF architecture principles will be applied to different case studies, which will be offered by several companies. These companies have already the form of a small and midsize enterprise but did not yet define their architecture for future growth in detail. The teams will be mixed in advance with students from Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and KU Leuven, involving the students’ different interdisciplinary backgrounds.

Afterwards, the students will be offered an opportunity to deliver an assignment (to earn ECTS) as a case study documentation for the company and possibly, to start with an internship/project with the company in the case of sufficient interest raised after the workshop.

We offer financial support for students of Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts to participate in this event. Limited places are available!
