The entire process of automotive system engineering – from requirement elicitation to system qualification – is presented. Different system architectures for ADAS/AD features like safety and comfort functions are introduced as well as the relevant components. A special focus is put on SW development. Exercises cover model-based development in MATLAB/Simulink that is used for function design and testing.

ADAS/AD – V-Model and Automotive SPICE –  Requirements Management and Analysis – System Architecture – Sensors for ADAS/AD – Safety (FuSa, SOTIF) and Cyber Security – Management and Support Processes – Automotive SW Development incl. Testing and Verification – System Validation

Block week format/course structure:
Lectures, discussion of a white paper, demonstration/exercise with MATLAB/Simulink including a case study

Added value for the students participating in the course:
The course provides an overview of the process of system development in the automotive industry, also pointing out new trends complementing the long-standing processes. The students will get an overview of ADAS/AD system engineering and will be prepared to enter the automotive industry or mobility-related sectors.
